Trevor Hoffman
Full Player Profile →
Trevor Hoffman was the first pitcher to reach 600 career saves, finishing with 601 and redefining ninth-inning consistency. He posted a 2.87 ERA during one of the most offense-heavy eras in MLB history. Hoffman relied on an elite changeup rather than pure velocity, proving deception and command can anchor dominance. He recorded nine seasons of at least 40 saves and led his league twice. His 1.058 career WHIP reflects sustained control over two decades. Hoffman rarely experienced dramatic performance collapse. He was the National League’s most reliable closer for much of the late 1990s and 2000s. While not as overpowering as Wagner, his longevity stands out. Volume plus consistency secure his place among the all-time elite.
